Two outstanding organisations, the Ballarat Bulldogs Football Netball Club and Special Olympics Ballarat, are seeking dedicated volunteers to continue their vital work in our community.

Sport and Recreation Victoria have launched the first round of the Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program. The grants provide assistance to Aboriginal Victorians to participate in Aboriginal sporting carnivals, buy sports uniforms and equipment, as well as funding for travel and accommodation expenses for athletes to compete in state and national competitions.

VicHealth is investing in local programs that support Victoria’s children, young people and their families facing structural barriers to good health. Grants of up to $150,000 are available from a total funding pool of $4 million to deliver programs over two years.

AFL Victoria and Sports Central are delighted to have partnered on the delivery of the AFL Inclusive Clubs and Gender Equity Education Program, a collaborative initiative involving clubs from the AFL Goldfields region.

Join Vicsport on Tuesday 18th June for a deep dive into youth participation trends and insights in sport! Professor Rochelle Eime will present the latest trends in participation in community sport, the motivations, drivers and barriers of participants and will also look at new ways to play.

Nominations are open for the City of Ballarat Youth Awards 2024. The awards provide the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the city’s outstanding young people aged 12-25. There are ten nomination categories, including the Leadership in Sport and Recreation Award.

Sports Central is partnering with Golden Plains Shire Council and Harwood Andrews to present a Governance & Incorporated Association Training Session on Wednesday 29th May at The Well in Smythesdale. Good Governance allows community clubs to keep their sport safe and inclusive, as well as maintaining strong operational processes to ensure the club is sustainable into the future.

Sports Central will be working with clubs on the Leading from the Front – Alcohol and Other Drugs Safety – We All Win pilot project over the next few weeks. Leading from the Front is a community sport health promotion initiative with the aim of raising awareness of health, safety and wellbeing issues across the Central Highlands.
