As the Regional Sports Assembly for the Central Highlands, Sports Central deliver a range of programs and services for the community sport and active recreation sector. The organisation was established in 1984 as the Central Highlands Regional Sports Assembly and has maintained a proud history of serving its members and stakeholders across the region for over 35 years. We service the Central Highlands region which includes six local government areas – Ararat Rural City, City of Ballarat, Golden Plains, Hepburn, Moorabool and Pyrenees Shires.

Sports Central is a member based not-for-profit organisation led by a Board of Management that drives the governance and strategy of the organisation. Our staff proudly deliver a range of programs and services throughout the region across the key areas of:

  • Club Development and Support
  • Welcoming, Empowering and Inclusive Sport
  • Participation
  • Healthy and Safe Communities

We are an independent organisation that works across all sport and active recreation groups, sporting clubs and community organisations. We work in and with our communities to help strengthen sport and active recreation to achieve lasting impacts.
