Sports Central will be working with up to ten clubs from across the Central Highlands on the Leading from the Front – Alcohol and Other Drugs Safety – We All Win pilot project over the next few weeks.
Leading from the Front is a community sport health promotion initiative with the aim of raising awareness of health, safety and wellbeing issues across the Central Highlands.
The Alcohol and Other Drugs Safety – We All Win pilot project is being delivered through the support of the Alcohol & Drug Foundation and in partnership with Ballarat Community Health. The project will build the knowledge and capacity of leading sporting clubs to prevent the use of illegal drugs through policy development, minimise the harm of alcohol and other drugs within our communities through education and support, and develop an understanding of how to respond to concerns.
Sporting clubs play an integral role in the health of our community, and we look forward to delivering this important pilot project with participating clubs.
Participating clubs will be involved in the following:
Alcohol and Other Drugs Primary Prevention Training Workshop (for two club leaders)
Attend an alcohol and other drugs primary prevention training workshop tailored to the needs of club leaders, with the content delivered by Ballarat Community Health.

Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention and Harm Minimisation Presentation (for up to 10 club representatives)
Attend an alcohol and other drugs prevention and harm minimisation presentation for officials, members, players and parents, with the content delivered by Ballarat Community Health.

Good Sports – Tackling Illegal Drugs Policy Development
Our support to develop a Good Sports – Tackling Illegal Drugs Policy and complete a Good Sports Club Accreditation update if required.
Participating clubs will also be surveyed to see what other health, safety and wellbeing issues can potentially be addressed as a part of the Leading from the Front initiative in the future.
