Equal the Contest:
Following the success of the groundbreaking documentary Equal the Contest, a new workshop has been developed as a pilot program for community sports clubs.
This powerful film follows non-binary filmmaker Mitch Nivalis as they learn to play AFL at a local women’s club that has been denied access to the league. The workshop provides practical steps for clubs to foster inclusive, welcoming environments for all participants.
What’s included in the free one-hour workshop?
This is an excellent opportunity for clubs across all sporting codes to take meaningful action toward inclusivity.

Vaping is a growing health concern, especially among young people, and community sporting clubs have an important role to play in addressing it. To help local clubs tackle this urgent issue, the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, in partnership with VicHealth and local councils across Victoria, has created a free, on-demand vaping webinar tailored specifically for club officials and coaches.
AFL Victoria, in collaboration with WorkSafe Victoria, are proud to announce that all AFL Victoria affiliated country football and netball clubs are once again eligible to benefit from the WorkSafe Club Safety Fund in 2025.
