Sports Central, in partnership with Golden Plains Shire Council, Moorabool Shire Council and Pyrenees Shire Council, is delivering a free Club Development Workshop Series designed to strengthen and support community sporting clubs across the region.
The series provides practical, hands-on learning opportunities for committee members, volunteers, coaches and emerging leaders. Focusing on leadership, governance, inclusion and sustainable club development, the workshops are designed to build club capability, strengthen operations and help create welcoming, future-ready sporting environments.
The series begins with an Online Leadership and Club Development Workshop hosted by Golden Plains Shire Council on Wednesday 27th May, from 7:00pm to 8:15pm. This session will explore strategic planning, volunteer recruitment and retention, committee roles and responsibilities, and practical approaches to building safe, inclusive and welcoming club environments.
The second workshop, Fair Access and Participation for Women and Girls, will be held on Wednesday 17th June, from 6:30pm to 7:45pm at MARC Stadium, Bacchus Marsh. Hosted by Moorabool Shire Council, the workshop will focus on advancing gender equality in sport, including Fair Access Policy implementation and strategies to increase the participation and retention of women and girls in community sport.
The series continues with a Leadership and Club Development Workshop at the Ballan Library and Community Hub on Monday 22nd June, from 6:30pm to 7:45pm. Hosted by Moorabool Shire Council, this session will further support clubs to strengthen leadership capability, improve governance practices and foster positive, sustainable club cultures.
The final workshop in the series will be a Leadership and Club Development Workshop hosted by Pyrenees Shire Council at the Goldfields Recreation Reserve, Beaufort, on Tuesday 23rd June. Participants will gain practical tools and strategies to enhance club leadership, strengthen governance and support long-term club sustainability.
These free workshops are designed to equip sporting clubs with the confidence, knowledge and practical resources needed to strengthen operations, support volunteers and build thriving, sustainable organisations.
