On Tuesday 14th March, Sports Central was thrilled to support Disability Sports Australia and other key partners in delivering the Activate Inclusion Sports Day at Selkirk Stadium, Wendouree.
Over 220 people participated in an action packed day, making it the biggest event of it’s kind so far in Victoria!
The event focused on providing people with disability the opportunity to try a range of different sport and active recreation activities, in a fun and inclusive environment.
The day successfully promoted inclusive sport pathways and encouraged attendees to participate in a range of community sport and active recreation programs on a regular basis.
Participants took part in seven different come & try sessions with Badminton, Football, Basketball, Golf, Bowls, Dance and Fishing all showcased and popular among attendees.
To support the transition of attendees into regular participation in community sport, each participant received an information pack helping to connect them with a range of all-abilities sports in the local area.
If you would like further information regarding all-abilities sport pathways within the Central Highlands region, please contact Sports Central on 5331 6966 or email info@sportscentral.org.au.
Sports Central would like to thank Disability Sports Australia, as well as other key partners and all event attendees for the great success of the day.
The bike education program for children with autism is back for 2025 and registrations are now open for participants aged between five and twelve years old. Book your spot now before the start of the program in February.
The Victorian Government’s Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund is now open to regional Local Government Authorities, aiming to deliver new and upgraded community sports infrastructure. Local clubs and organisations are advised to contact their Local Government Authority to express interest, seek support or be involved as a partner in an application.
