Strengthening Rural Communities (SRC) – Small & Vital grants

The Strengthening Rural Communities program gives small rural, regional and remote communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds that can benefit and help secure their future prosperity. Grants are available for a broad range of initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities. 

SRC Round 8 has $430,000 available through the Small & Vital Stream.

Small & Vital Stream: Requests up to $10,000

  • Projects that support communities in remote, rural or regional Australia with fewer than 15,000 people;
  • Projects initiated and delivered by local community groups and not-for profits; 
  • Organisations that do not have DGR status.

A broad range of charitable projects are considered under this program, including:

  • Delivering, or providing activities, events, programs and services; 
  • Purchasing or hiring equipment and materials;
  • Community infrastructure projects; 
  • Organisational capacity building;
  • Community resource development.

The Strengthening Rural Communities program gives small rural, regional and remote communities across Australia the opportunity to access funds that can benefit and help secure their future prosperity. Grants are available for a broad range of initiatives that directly and clearly benefit local communities.

SRC Round 8 has $570,000 available in the Larger Leverage Stream.  

Requests up to $25,000 are for:

  • Projects that support communities in remote or very remote Australia or throughout Victoria for specific focus areas. 
  • Please see the funding table below for funds available and relevant focus areas.

Region

Larger Leverage Stream

National 

  • Discretionary funding for projects that support communities in remote or very remote Australia – $100,000
  • Capital projects in remote or very remote Australia – $25,000

Victoria

  • Supporting activities that benefit older people – $100,000
  • Strengthening community infrastructure needs – $50,000
  • Biodiversity / education – $75,000
