Sporting Clubs Taking Action – CoRe Resource

Sports Central in partnership with Women’s Heath Grampians and Western Bulldogs Community Foundation, Ballarat Community Health and Ballarat Golf Club were proud to host over 15 different sporting codes at our Leadng Change President’s Dinner held at Soverign Hill in November 2017. The event generated significant interest, goodwill and commitment from local sporting clubs and associations to promote gender equality and prevent violence against women through the Communities of Respect & Equality (CoRE) initiative.

The CoRE initiative now has a number of clubs and associations including Ballarat Cricket Association, Ballarat and District Soccer Association, Buninyong Cricket Club and Buninyong Soccer Club as members, who are now actively working towards building communities of respect and equality.

CoRE currently supports over 80 members from a broad range of industries including education, health, business and government to prevent violence against women and promote equality and fairness. Sport is uniquely positioned to influence community attitudes and behaviours towards women and girls.

To further support our new members in the sports sector, a practical resource has been developed to highlight innovative and meaningful ways you can take action to create environments that are inclusive, respectful and safe: Sporting Clubs Taking Action (click here).
