Sons of the West returns in 2019!
Sons of the West is a FREE men’s health program for men aged 18 and over living, working and recreating in Victoria’s west.
First delivered in Ballarat in 2016, the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation has again partnered the City of Ballarat and Sports Central to deliver the Sons of the West program this year.
The 10-week program aims to improve men’s health and wellbeing through a series of workshops, presentations, events and experiences.
Each weekly session includes an hour-long presentation on a men’s health topic, along with an hour of supported group-based physical activity.
Men’s health topics this year include Time to Test with the EJ Whitten Foundation, Cooking Masterclass with Ballarat Community Health and What’s In Your Backyard with the City of Ballarat and Sports Central.
Group-based physical activity is delivered by an exercise physiologist and personal trainers. The program caters for all levels of fitness:
Getting Active: Lower level intensity – This group caters for the men who might be just getting back from injury or illness or maybe you just need a little extra help.
Active: Medium level intensity – This group caters for the men who have base level fitness already or for those who may have played a bit of sport.
Active Advanced: High level intensity – This group caters for the men who are quite fit and really want to challenge themselves.
There are loads of giveaways and incentives including match day experiences, customised Sons of the West incentives and the chance to win signed merchandise from the Western Bulldogs Football Club.
Get together with other men in your community, get healthy and pick up some cool free stuff while you’re doing it. It doesn’t get much better than this!
