Act@Play commences with AFL Goldfields and Basketball Ballarat

Sports Central, in partnership with Women’s Health Grampians, have commenced rolling out Act@Play, a violence against women pilot project with two local sporting associations.

Act@Play is a gender equality, cultural change initiative delivered in a sport and recreation setting contributing to the prevention of violence against women in Victoria. This program is funded through Sport & Recreation Victoria’s ‘Gender Equality in Victorian Sport and Recreation Pilot Program’ and is available to Women’s Health Grampians CoRE members.

Act@Play, a revised version of the successful Women’s Health Grampians Act@Work program, will be undertaken by AFL Goldfields and Basketball Ballarat in the first half of 2019.  The program works with the whole association to equip members with knowledge, skills and resources to foster gender equitable structures and practices.

This pilot program will provide great insight into the future direction of Act@Play and asses the adaptability for volunteer based sporting clubs and associations.

The pilot project is currently at capacity, however further programs with a focus on gender equality and preventing violence against women are available to clubs and associations.  For further information, please contact Chloe on 5331 6966 or
